It’s on the horizon — we are about to eradicate a disease…and you can be a part of it! We are 99.9 percent of the way toward ending polio.
While the World Health Organization has confirmed two cases of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in Nigeria — the first cases in the country since July 2014 — the program has overcome outbreaks before. Rotary will not stop its efforts to ensure that every child is born into a polio-free world. Many think this could be the year we see the last naturally occurring case of polio.
World Polio Day is coming up on October 24 and can be celebrated and shared from anywhere in the world.
GIVE! Help us reach a polio-free world and donate today. Every donation that we commit to polio eradication will be tripled by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Contact your club’s Foundation Chair or logon to My Rotary at www.rotary.org to donate!
TAKE PART! Check out the resources, ideas and opportunities to participate at http://www.endpolio.org/take-action. Learn about polio eradication, how to get involved, and how to make your voice heard on World Polio Day.
And remember, Rotary International maintains an extensive inventory of high-resolution photos, HD videos, advertisements and graphics to support polio eradication efforts. Use these materials to reach out to news media in your community.
