The first pediatric heart surgery from the latest Gift of Life heart surgery global grant project took place in July 2016 at the AUB Medical Center of Fatmeh in Beirut, Lebanon. Bakour was one of seven children with congenital heart disease from poor families in Lebanon whose lives will be saved as a result of the efforts from our District. This effort was led jointly by the Rotary Clubs of Carmel and Fishers. The remaining six surgeries were to take place in the following weeks after this initial procedure.
